WHAT IF JESUS DIDN’T COME?
Have you ever wondered; what would life be like if Jesus didn’t come? No Christmas, that’s for sure! But what would that mean to you? And what would that mean to me?
If Jesus didn’t come, there would be no “Sheena Loves Sunsets”; no products with Bible verses from me (because there would be no Bible!) and no Bible verse drawings posted on my Tumblr. In fact, If Jesus didn’t come, there would be no “Sheena Loves Sunsets” in Tumblr because the friend who convinced me to start a Tumblr was also, a friend from church (Hi, Isa, a.k.a. themorninglight!)
If Jesus didn’t come, I wouldn’t have met the most amazing people I’ve met in my life because I met a lot of them in CCF (the church I attend). I wouldn’t have met people who I could count on during tough times and I wouldn’t have known what it was like to have a group of people praying for you. If Jesus didn’t come, I wouldn’t have started a Bible study with 3 of my closest friends and we wouldn’t have experienced the joy and sense of fulfillment seeing people grow in their faith through the group. If Jesus didn’t come, I wouldn’t have joined a Holy Land Bible Study tour and would have missed out on such a life-changing trip.
If Jesus didn’t come, I would most certainly not be getting married next year. In fact, I would most definitely not have met my fiance because first of all, the friend who introduced us was a friend of mine from church. And even if by “chance” (because there is no Jesus) we would have met, I would probably be a crazy, immature, insecure, proud and selfish girlfriend and we would’ve broken up already just a few months after.
If Jesus didn’t come, I would be prouder than I am now, more selfish, more unkind. I would probably not be a very good daughter, not a good sister and not a good friend. I would probably lie a lot, cheat, steal, curse and be rude. I would find no meaning and purpose in my life which could lead me to become cynical and angry at the world. Maybe I would smile, but deep inside I would hurt. There would be no purpose to everything I would be doing and I would know it… and yet, I wouldn’t know how to fix it.
But Jesus did come! And in coming, He changed my life! I am still not perfect and my life is far from perfect, but I can only imagine how different things would be if Jesus didn’t choose to come in this world to save me.
So this Christmas, may we all remember the true reason for this season. May we be glad and joyful not only because we are with family and friends, not only because we can take a break and not only because we can enjoy the gifts and the good food. May we celebrate, and I mean really celebrate (!) because Jesus came and when He did, He changed everything. This Christmas, may we love because He first loved us.
Happy Birthday, Jesus! Thank you for coming. You didn’t have to, but you did. ♥

The lovely and generous folks at Vacancy.com are offering a scholarship if you can find a great apartment in a great city. Then of course, they want you to blog about it. So I jived around the site and found out they advertise some great apartments, and I can honestly say I had some trouble choosing one. I searched in some gorgeous cities such as Boca Raton, Florida and Denver, Colorado, but I ended up coming right back to searching in Norman/Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Why? One: I’m cheap, and according to Wikipedia, Boca Raton is known for its “affluent social community and high income demographic.” Boca also has some interesting Mafia history, but that’s beside the point. Anyway, despite my dreams and the sparkling, almost alluring pictures, I could not imagine myself living there. Second reason, Oklahoma, like myself, is cheap. In fact, it boasts one of the cheapest housing markets in America. Thirdly, my people are here, and I really do want to go to college here, too. So I found what I think is an amazing apartment in North Oklahoma City. It’s called Crosswinds Cove, which I found interesting as Oklahoma is a land-locked state. Nevertheless, the apartment seems perfect for me. It seems like a big community, but it has an intimate feel, too. The place has character, too, with 70’s style architecture’s signature stone/brick living in harmony around the front of the building in three long window shapes. The next picture shows a nice big courtyard with comfy benches (hello, reading spot) and looks like lots of room to play with some doggy friends, since the place is PET FRIENDLY!!! They have a little workout room which I might make use of from time to time, but more importantly, they have an amazing indoor pool in a lovely pool room with curvy walls. The apartments do not disappoint the simple in taste college-bound girl, either, with a quaint little kitchen that has a scalloped ceiling edge over the sink, and the all important dishwasher, which I would die without. There’s a huge bay window leading outside to a patio, and some spacious bedrooms for an apartment. Its saving grace would have to be the washing machine/dryer, though, and I’m being totally sarcastic, because this place doesn’t need any saving. I could definitely see myself living here with a roommate, and the price for all the amenities and such is worth it to me, because starting rent is only $369. There’s way too much to love, so I’ll end by saying thanks, Vacancy, for the opportunity! Just in case anyone is completely sold already, here’s the link:

By Lewis Carroll
How doth the little crocodile
Improve his shining tail.
And pour the waters of the Nile
On every shining scale.
How cheerfully he seems to grin
How neatly spreads his claws,
And welcomes little fishes in,
With gently smiling jaws.
LOL. There’s a book about two guys in (I think) the 20’s-50’s that start writing new kinds of comics and pretty much revolutionized it. It’s called the Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. They depicted their characters fighting Nazis and Hitler during WWII because the artist was a Czech Jewish immigrant, mainly. Really good book. =D
I love this comic. Imma post some more work by her. Funny. I had to look some things up on wikipedia, but after that they’re soooo hilarious.
My tumblr visits have been extremely sporadic, for reasons I don’t want to go into relating to the IB. But an interesting trend has developed since my unfortunate absence. Every time I get on tumblr the F-word (that I just can’t say unless I’m really super mad) is more and more frequent. Just kind of interesting. Is our generation just fed up with life? I think that word sums up that kind of feeling. Kinda funny how words lose their meaning or gain new/multiple meanings over time, too. WELL, see you guys in six months, probably.
With love and thoughfulness, =)
